Laser Resurfacing Before & After
Types Of Laser Resurfacing Offered At The Menkes Clinic
Types of lasers we use in patient care include:
FRAXEL Restore
The technology that drives Fraxel treatment enables the laser to precisely direct pinpoint laser beams towards thousands of minute areas of the skin. The laser energy penetrates beneath the skin’s surface to get rid of old, damaged skin cells. What is wonderful about the Fraxel treatment is the stimulation it promotes. In a natural healing process, the body replaces damaged skin with beautiful, healthy, glowing, skin.
Fraxel restores, which was the original Fraxel procedure, can resurface damaged skin to reveal more vibrant, youthful skin—all while minimally impacting your daily routine. By targeting only 5 to 50 percent of the skin’s surface with each Fraxel restore treatment, the remaining untreated skin is available to quickly heal the treated areas. The entire skin is treated over a few sessions to allow for rapid healing and little to no downtime. Most return to regular activities within a day or two. Since Fraxel treatment is so precise, it’s safe and effective on delicate skin areas like the face, neck, chest, and hands.
Benefits of Fraxel restore Laser Treatment
- Pinpoint laser beams treat thousands of microscopic areas of skin
- Eliminates old, damaged skin cells
- Entire skin is treated over a few sessions
- Rapid healing and little to no downtime
- Safe and effective on face, neck, chest and hands
Two levels of results can be expected from treatment. After the initial healing period, skin immediately looks brighter and feels softer as skin tone evens out. Over the six month period following treatment, the continual remodeling of the skin’s underlying structure leads to progressive improvement in color and texture.
Active-FX CO2 Laser
This unique CO2 laser creates a superficial laser peel that is confined to the top layer of the skin (epidermis) with little to no thermal injury in the deeper layers of the skin, thereby minimizing the risk for scarring. This technology applies a fractional patterned laser beam to the skin. This leaves small areas of healthy, intact cells, facilitating an accelerated healing process that allows you to more quickly resume your normal pace of life. Active FX yields remarkable, long lasting results with just one treatment and is performed in our office. Downtime is typically 4-7 days and offers substantial results.
What to Expect After an Active-FX CO2 Laser Treatment:
- Skin may feel slightly sunburned for a few days
- Flaking will begin within 2 days and last up to one week
- Pinkness typically disappears within 7 days
- Continual improvement will occur for up to 6 months after treatment
Excel V
This laser is ideal for treating small hyperpigmented areas such as freckles and flat brown spots on the skin called lentigines, which are the result of frequent sun exposure. Treatment sessions typically take 10-15 minutes. Post treatment care is minimal with results evident in 2 to 3 weeks.
