When receiving a LightSheer^® DUET™ treatment, expect to feel comfortable and relaxed. The high speed handpiece will gently suck or stretch your skin into its chamber to receive the laser light treatment. This suction is very sublte and does not hurt. The laser light has a warm feeling with minimal discomfort.

Your session length will depend on your treatment area. Larger areas, such as a full back, chest or legs can take up to 20 minutes. In general, lighter skin will require 4-6 treatments and darker skin will require 6 or more treatments.

There are no side effects other than some slight redness or swelling after treatment, but it's temporary and will subside within a couple hours. In some cases, blistering may occur, in which you should contact us for further instructions.

Arrive at our office with the desired treated skin area clean and free of moisturizers or deodorant. It is best to not tan before a laser treatment, as lighter skin will absrob the laser light better, which may decrease your number of treatment sessions required. However the LightSheer^® DUET™ does work on tanned skin. Do not pluck, wax, use a depilatory or undergo electrolysis in the areas you wish to have treated for 6 weeks prior to laser hair removal.

The treated area may be red or swollen for a few hours following treatment, however most patients return to normal activity right away. Some patients may experience a slight sting like mild sunburn. A cold compress can be applied if needed to alleviate any discomfort. You should avoid shaving the treated area for the first few days after treatment, but tweezing or waxing should be avoided for the duration of your laser treatments. Always avoid direct sun exposure after a laser treatment and be sure to use a sunblock with an SPF of 30 or higher.
